Membership Information
Guild members Since the humble beginning, the Guild has grown to almost 200 members Our members work as Pastry Chefs or Executive Pastry Chefs in hotels, bakeries and restaurants, they manage their own wholesale or retail businesses, they are teachers of the trade in Secondary Schools or Community Colleges or operate their own trade schools. Many of our members have made names for themselves in winning important competitions. Members also frequently act as judges at local (Final Exams – George Brown College, Skills Canada), national and international events (Bakery Showcases, Hostex, etc.). Membership is also open to persons closely connected to the trade. They may include suppliers, equipment manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and persons working in the trade, baking course students or persons interested in the trade. Members who are suppliers and manufacturers can keep in close personal contact with the users of their products and, therefore, serve the needs of the industry and the public. Should YOU be a member of the "Canadian Pastry Chefs Guild? As a pastry chef, baker or chef, you will meet colleagues who have the same interests as you. People interested in the trade and especially those working in the industry will find that the contacts they can make will help them in their understanding of the trade. Junior members are students in baking and pastry courses as well as apprentices (they are eligible for special membership rates) The exchange of ideas, keeping up with new trends and generally having a pipeline to the newest information will help you to be well informed. You may develop life-long friendships. You also will be most welcome to help further the aims of the Guild, be it as a member serving on committees or as part of the Executive. You are able to help promote our young, recently graduated pastry chefs to increase their knowledge and find opportunities where they can develop and grow (apprenticeships). If you have your own business, we will try to help you find qualified employees. As a recent graduate or apprentice, you just have to ask – you will find Guild members very helpful. Suppliers, manufacturers and people connected with the trade will value the personal contacts they can make to help them in their endeavors.
